She wants to replace her dining set with a more comfortable seating area, while highlighting the Chesapeake Bay view.
Designer Sharon O’Brien draws inspiration from the bay, using nautical elements to create a casual, relaxing space.
In lieu of a second dining set, new chairs and the existing love seat create a seating area in which to relax and entertain guests.
Add pillows and mirrors with a nautical feel for a beach-house look that isn’t over the top.
A new trestle table can seat six comfortably, with a removable leaf that can make room for 10.

Remove the window treatments to brighten the space and give guests an unencumbered view.
Freshly painted crown molding (Benjamin Moore’s Wedgewood Gray) draws the eye upward. The walls are Wickham Gray.
For an easy update, replace brass fixtures with brushed nickel. A flush-mount light also opens sightlines to the windows.
